Cinnamon Monkey Bread

Finished Cinnamon Monkey Bread

I usually stay away from sweets in the morning, but every once in a while for a special treat I make this easy monkey bread and it’s gone in a flash!  Using a store bought pizza crust it takes almost no time.

Granted, this is the only thing I use someone else’s pizza crust for… because, well, I’m a food snob. There, I said it!

Ok so do you have cinnamon? Butter? Sugar?  Well go get a (gasp!) canned refrigerated pizza crust (that’s right, the kind that go “pop” when you open them) and let’s make this completely diet-unfriendly morning monstrosity of utter goodness.

You’ll love it, I promise!

IngredientsIngredients Cinnamon Monkey Bread

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon (mix more if you like!)
  • 1 refrigerated pizza crust in the can

Prep by melting the butter in the microwave and mixing the cinnamon and sugar together in a separate bowl.

Pizza Dough for Cinnamon Monkey Bread

Don’t unroll the dough. Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough into ½” discs. Slice each disc in half and then half again.  Dump the four pieces in the butter, swish around, fish out and deposit in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Swish about to coat, fish out and dump in a Bundt pan. Like my Apple Brown Betty, I like the crispness and speed of baking the Bundt pan lends the monkey bread. Plus, that’s the shape it comes in from the store!

Now repeat until you’re out of dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Your dough bites should have risen a bit and look puffy and sticky on top.  Turn the pan out onto a plate and devour! Om nom nom!

Looks fabulous…some recipes just warrant prepared dough…no shame in that, when the results look like THIS! Yummy. 🙂
